Self-referring Patients

  • With Referral Letter
If you have a letter of referral, our team will book an appointment with a consultant radiologist at a convenient time for you. Please contact us via phone or email and we will be very happy to assist with your inquiry.
  • Without Referral Letter
In order to ensure that ultrasound is the most appropriate investigation for you, we offer the following options:
    1) Complimentary 5-minute telephone consultation with one of our senior doctors.
    2) A thorough face-to-face consultation (20-minute) including history taking and examination, allowing for a more in-depth assessment. The fee for this is £125.
We will always try to schedule your consultation and scan during the same visit, but this may not always be possible. And if the doctor concludes that an ultrasound is not the correct investigation for you, we will guide you accordingly.

During your ultrasound scan

Ultrasound scans are generally painless, and you can usually resume normal activities immediately afterwards. While some patients may experience mild discomfort or pressure during the scan, we’ll discuss any potential discomfort beforehand and use techniques like local anaesthesia to minimise it. For therapeutic ultrasounds, additional discomfort may be associated with procedures like injections.

Please remove or lift clothing in the area to be scanned. We’ll provide gowns or drapes for your privacy. Our team includes both male and female consultant radiologists, and you can request an appointment with your preferred doctor.

The radiologist or sonographer will provide a verbal summary during the scan and will send a detailed written report within two working days of your follow-up consultation.

After your ultrasound scan

A consultant radiologist or sonographer will review your ultrasound scan results and send the report to the doctor who initially assessed you. We’ll schedule a follow-up consultation with the same doctor to discuss the results and determine any necessary next steps. The full written report will be available within two working days.
